This flex-a-clay was delivered to my front door in a timely fashion in the limited quantity I needed. It was easy to work with — apply the powder to about two inches of depth, wet, agitate, tamp down and repeat until reaching the desired depth. I appreciated having the flexibility to apply more less based on what areas experience the most wear .
It’s not the same as a real pitcher, but no machine ever can be. The slider/curve settings are also helpful, though it’s a mechanical move to set them, so you can’t mix them in as you would in a normal pitch rotation. But for teaching the player to see and hold back on the curve, it’s been effective and worth having. We bought the feeder as well, which is very helpful when you have players working in stations as hitters can run through a series of balls without having someone there to feed the balls. For a smaller space and a lot of swing reps, this is an exceptional option and priced right.
We plan to use it in the spring for some drill work outside as well, but nothing to share on that just yet. I have 3 boys spread out in the gym to shag the balls. I put the machine approximately 25 feet from the hitter in order to avoid the balls from “floating” in. A drawback is if you set the machine too far back the balls will have the lobster elite liberty appearance of floating in, which is very difficult to hit. The hitters adjust pretty quickly to it being this close and it actually helps with developing quick hands. I now have started using the machine for defensive purposes also.
